Each ingredient is used once per brew of up to 3 bottles, so brewing in full batches of 3 saves ingredients.

How it works

Almost every potion starts the same way: a water bottle plus Nether Wart makes an Awkward Potion, and one more ingredient sets the effect. A Fermented Spider Eye “corrupts” some potions into their opposite (Swiftness → Slowness, Night Vision → Invisibility, Healing → Harming).

Redstone extends the duration, Glowstone makes it stronger but shorter (you can't have both). Gunpowder turns any potion into a splash potion, and Dragon's Breath turns a splash potion into a lingering one, whose cloud lasts a quarter of the duration.

A brewing stand handles up to 3 bottles at once and each ingredient takes 20 seconds. Every ingredient is consumed once per brew, no matter if you brew 1 or 3 bottles, and one blaze powder fuels 20 brews.

FAQ

How long does it take to brew a potion?

20 seconds per ingredient. A basic potion (Nether Wart + one ingredient) takes 40 seconds; each extra step like Redstone, Glowstone or Gunpowder adds 20 seconds.

How many potions can one blaze powder brew?

One blaze powder fuels 20 brews, and each brew can process up to 3 bottles.

Can a potion be both extended and level II?

No. Redstone and Glowstone cancel each other out — adding one to a potion already modified by the other does nothing.

How do I make a Potion of Weakness?

Add a Fermented Spider Eye straight to a water bottle — no Nether Wart needed. Add Redstone to extend it to 4:00.

Do splash potions last as long as drinkable ones?

In Java Edition splash potions keep the full duration (reduced only for mobs further from the impact). Lingering potion clouds apply a quarter of the duration.
